Home on Androscoggin
Far off the beaten path in Wayne Maine, lay a Lakeside camp no longer fitting the needs of its owner. Its small footprint dwarfed by the rolling hill enveloping it and the lot on which it sits.

Phase One: This design sought to maximize the buildable area on the lot. Including a 700SF 1 bed + 1bath Accessory Dwelling Unit, and 1,160SF multi-use garage. The way the two buildings sit in the topography of the site creates a tunnel like approach from the wooded new driveway, down a stairway flanked by natural planks. At the bottom they are released onto a stone patio, overlooking the main home and the lakeside.
Large picture glazing ensures this small crest on the site has its views shared by the exterior lounger, the guest within the ADU, and the resident of the home be they working in the office or gym of the garage lower level.
All of this, while skillful meeting the ground on both levels and an absolute height requirement of the local shoreland regulations.
